SOUTHEAST EUGENE
A very diverse area of Eugene, Southeast includes many large and upscale homes in the Southeast hills to classic cottages and bungalows on the flats. It is a mixture of older and newer homes and includes some commercial retail businesses. The geography includes gentle hillsides with much of the upland wildlife habitat. It’s not unusual to see deer, turkey and other “wild” animals in this area.
Boundaries:
- West – Willamette St
- North — 29th Avenue
- South — City limits
- North until the city limits meet 40th Avenue. From that point the boundary follows 40th Avenue East to an unnamed street, North upon that street to 39th Avenue, East along 39th Avenue to Willamette Street and North on Willamette to 29th Avenue.
SOUTHWEST EUGENE
Southwest Eugene has homes ranging from sprawling estates to classic 1920’s bungalows, and includes such diverse neighborhoods as the College Hill neighborhood with meticulously maintained classic and historic homes and yards, Hawkins Heights with newer developments – to the Friendly Street area with its organic Eugene neighborhood feel. You’ll find a wonderful assortment of restaurants, stores and other establishments in this area.

FRIENDLY AREA NEIGHBORHOOD
The Friendly Area is named after Sam Friendly, a much-loved 19th-century Mayor of Eugene. The Friendly Street neighborhood encompasses a wide range of architectural and personal styles. The Friendly Street area is small, locally-owned businesses with markets offering fine organic produce and products and regional wines from the vineyards of Oregon; locally-owned bookstore where you will be greeted by the owner; cafes and bistros, and farmers markets, to name just a few. These businesses stand beside regional and national brand stores. Less driving means more time to relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of home. LTD bus service is extensive throughout the neighborhood, supporting a focus on reduced carbon footprint lifestyles.

FERRY STREET BRIDGE
Primarily level terrain, Ferry Street Bridge consists of large residential areas and upscale shopping districts including Valley River Center and Oakway Center. Housing ranges from 70s construction to newer building along the northern boundary. Ferry Street Bridge includes Alton Baker Park, Eugene’s largest riverfront park which is popular for river access, running, biking and family entertainment, Eugene Country Club, Oakway Golf course and Autzen Stadium. Ferry Street Bridge neighborhood connects this neighborhood to Downtown Eugene.

UNIVERSITY DISTRICT/EAST EUGENE
The University area surrounds the University of Oregon campus and is composed of single family homes including 2 – 4 bedroom bungalows on the flats, large historic homes mixed with newer contemporary homes in the foothills and newer student housing. This area is known for its nicely maintained streets and yards. Area businesses include restaurants, ice cream parlors, Sacred Heart Hospital and many other businesses that support the University faculty and students. You can easily bike or walk to most everywhere you’d want to go from here.

FAIRMOUNT NEIGHBORHOOD
The Fairmount Neighborhood is one of Eugene’s most prestigious neighborhoods. Homes in this area range from modest but exceptionally maintained older homes to very upscale and beautiful contemporary homes. Homes in the area above Fairmount Blvd sometimes have magnificent views of the University area and Willamette River where you can watch Bald Eagles and Ospreys vie for airspace.
The Fairmount neighborhood is also one of the most walkable Eugene neighborhoods due to the fact that there are four city parks along with wide tree-lined sidewalks. Fairmount is popular for joggers, dog walkers, bicyclists and U.O. runners. It is also in close proximity Hendricks Park, University of Oregon and Willamette river pedestrian and bicycle paths.

WHITEAKER NEIGHBORHOOD
One of Eugene’s oldest neighborhoods, “The Whit” as it’s known as, is one of Eugene’s most up and coming neighborhoods. Anchored by the Ninkosi brewery, The Whit is home to many breweries, restaurants and alternative grocery stores. The Whiteaker neighborhood of Eugene is a mixture of commercial establishments, restaurants/bakeries and residential homes. It is truly a “neighborhood” neighborhood.
RIVER ROAD
The river road area is a mixture of 40’s’s to 60’s ranch style home and newer construction with some older farmhouses interspersed. Mostly flat terrain with large lots, large old trees and “river bottom” soil which because of the quality of the soil was mostly farmland up until 30 – 50 years ago. Some small farms and nurseries are still in existence. Most of the commercial and retail establishments are centered on River Road. Riverside bike paths and a central park provide plenty of outdoor recreational opportunities.

SANTA CLARA
Santa Clara is a community on the northern fringe of the City of Eugene, Oregon. Santa Clara is located on the banks of the Willamette River. There are a number of newer subdivisions in the Santa Clara area mixed with 50’s and 60’s ranch style homes.
Approximately 40 percent of the land area of Santa Clara lies within the city limits of Eugene, while the remaining 60 percent is unincorporated. Many people are drawn to parts of Santa Clara because of the lower county taxes that exist in parts of Santa Clara.

SPRINGFIELD/THURSTON
East and across the river from Eugene is Springfield and Thurston. Springfield is a mix of residential neighborhoods and retail and commercial businesses. Both Mckenzie-Willamette and Sacred Heart Medical Center are located in Springfield and offer state of the art medical care for Eugene/Springfield and surrounding area. The Gateway Mall offers many big box stores and two theaters. The Washburn district in the heart of the historic district of Springfield has a mixture of well-maintained older bungalow’s mixed with antique stores and other retail establishments.
